I bought this in 2020 and have been using it ever since. I have always suffered with plaque build up no matter how often / vigorously I brush my teeth. I was sceptical about trying a tooth scaler as I wasn't sure if it would even work and they tend to be not exactly dirt cheap.I can honestly say I am so glad I decided to get this, it has been by far and away the best healthcare product I have ever bought. Bar none. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, I think I would be in trouble now had this tooth scaler not existed.The product.In my opinion this particular scaler is very good value for money as not only is it very effective, you get a number of accessories with it; you get 2x 'heads' - one has a flat tip (apparently for polishing teeth surfaces although I haven't used this one so can't comment) and the other has a (very sharp) pointed spike. You also get a dentist's style mirror, a USB Type A charging cable and a tongue scraper. All this comes packed in a handy transparent plastic case. The case feels reasonably durable but I wouldn't like to say how much punishment it could take, what I can say is after 4 years it's holding up just fine.The tongue scraper sounds gnarlier than it actually is. The idea being you scrape the bacteria etc off your tongue which helps freshen breath & improves mouth hygiene. I use it regularly and I think it makes a difference. It is made of metal but isn't sharp and doesn't hurt.What can hurt however if you're not careful is the spike 'head' attachment.The device is almost equivalent in size to an electric toothbrush although slightly lighter.There are 3 modes on the scaler - low, medium and high vibration. You press the power button once to turn it on (low vibration), press again for medium and again for high. To turn the device off, press and hold the power button for a second or two until it shuts up.Next to the power button is the button for the built in LED light. Although the light is clear and bright, I don't find it all that useful as due to the position of it (on the top of the device at the base of the attachment head) it's hardly ever in a position where it's illuminating the tooth / area you're working on...The device works by vibrating the attachment which somehow liquidates the plaque after a few seconds. Very clever.The vibration is noticeable but not unpleasant in the hand or on your teeth, nor is it very noisy.It does not get hot or warm even after 20 minutes ish of use. It will turn off automatically after a certain time to preserve the battery but just wait a few minutes and you're good to go again.As for battery life, I use it maybe once a month and very rarely need to charge it but when I do it doesn't need charging for long at all, there is a light next to the power button which indicates when it is fully charged.In summary, I highly recommend this product for anyone suffering as I do with plaque build up. Just bare 2 things in mind - 1; be very careful, it is very easy to pierce your gum / lip / finger / other body parts as the spike is very sharp so definitely keep away from children. 2 - be patient; in my case it takes a good few seconds and small scraping movements to liquify the plaque, but you will see excellent results.
